How to join the Global Compact

To join the United Nations Global Compact, you follow the steps below:

Business application:

  • Review the Online Application Guideline (Business)
  • Prepare a Letter of Commitment signed by the chief executive to the Secretary-General of the United Nations expressing:
    1. commitment to the UN Global Compact and its ten principles;
    2. engagement in partnerships to advance broad UN goals; and
    3. the annual submission of a Communication on Progress (COP).

  • Complete the Online Application Form and upload a digital copy of the Letter of Commitment signed by the highest executive. The name of the chief executive who signed the Letter of Commitment must correspond with the entry in the online registration form.

 

Non-business application:

Determine your type of non-business organization (view the various categories of Non-Business participation).

  • Review the Online Application Guideline (Non-business)
  • Prepare a Letter of Commitment signed by the chief executive to the Secretary-General of the United Nations expressing
    1. commitment to the UN Global Compact and its ten principles;
    2. participation in the activities of the initiative where feasible; and
    3. the submission of a Communication on Engagement (COE) every two years.

  • Complete the Online Application Form and upload a digital copy of the Letter of Commitment signed by the chief executive. The name of the chief executive who signed the Letter of Commitment must correspond with the entry in the online registration form.
