The Changing Role of Business
Global Compact Nordic Network Meeting 2017
8-9 May | Volvohallen, Gothenburg
The world has set a very ambitious and necessary agenda for 2030: the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All 193 Member States of the United Nations have committed themselves to solving the world’s biggest challenges: ending global poverty, protecting our planet and ensuring a life of dignity for all.
Fulfilling these ambitions will take an unprecedented effort by all sectors in society – and business has to play a very important role in the process. Business has to invent, develop and launch countless new ideas and solutions within a very short time. But the SDGs not only identify where we have to be in 2030 to create a sustainable world, they also outline new markets and opportunities for companies all over the world – they change the role of business.
The UN Global Compact is committed to being a leading catalyst for that transformation and in turning the Global Goals into local business. On that basis the Global Compact Nordic Network (GCNN), in cooperation with Volvo Cars and The International Chamber of Commerce, welcomes you to a conference focused on two of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals: Partnership for the goals (SDG 17) and Sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11). During two half-days*, we will discuss, network, learn and share information about how to advance the SDGs through business activities and partnerships.
We are working to finalize our speakers for the conference and will update the final agenda soon. The website will be continuously updated, so please remember to visit the page for updates. Those who have registered will also receive email updates when the agenda is posted.
The registration is open until the 21st of April – please note that due to a large exhibition, several hotels are already fully booked so make sure to arrange your stay asap. Detailed information about the event is to be found on the left-hand side of this page.
*Day two is only open for GCNN-members.
